# “ChatGPT, tell me about myself”

The short answer: ChatGPT can only describe the person in your chats, from what you have typed, uploaded or connected. That is the story you already tell about yourself. PsycheAI reads what you actually do, years of it, from your own Instagram data on your own device, and shows the evidence for each finding.

## What ChatGPT knows about you

With memory on, ChatGPT answers from what it has saved about you, your past chats and your custom instructions, and on some plans from your files and connected apps. Asked to tell you about yourself, it works from that, so it is limited to what you have told it, and to how you were presenting yourself when you did.

## The same question, two answers

We asked both: *What would I regret most about my life when I’m old?*

- **ChatGPT:** “The things you kept postponing because you thought you had more time”: working too hard, being too afraid to try, not being present for your own life. True of almost anyone.
- **PsycheAI:** “You let your analytical shield turn any form of intimacy into an audit.” “You quoted *The Little Prince* in 2023, so you know this trap, yet you still fall in.” “You won’t regret getting hurt; you will regret never having dared to let someone in completely.”

## Why not upload your Instagram data to ChatGPT?

You can, and it is a capable assistant. But your raw export holds your name, your contacts, other people’s @handles, the messages friends wrote to you, and your photos and videos, and all of it goes to its servers as it is. On its personal plans, what you share may be used to train its models unless you turn that off, and it is kept until you delete it, then for up to 30 days. A full export is also thousands of files, usually more than a chatbot can take in at once.

## How PsycheAI does it

- **Read on your device.** The zip, your photos and your videos never leave it.
- **De-identified first.** Your name becomes a blank, other people become numbers like [P1], and links, emails and phone numbers are removed.
- **Reviewed by you.** You see what will be sent, and can leave out any topic or chat.
- **Not trained on, not kept.** The summary goes to Google Vertex AI on Google Cloud’s enterprise tier, which does not train on it. PsycheAI keeps no copy, and there are no accounts.
- **Made to share.** A free Psyche Card sized for your story, and [Psyche Sync](https://psycheai.io/best-friend-compatibility-test) to compare with a friend.

## Questions

### Is ChatGPT’s answer about me accurate?

It can only be as accurate as what you have told it. It has no view of how you behave when you are not describing yourself.

### Can I use both?

Yes. ChatGPT is good for working through a problem; PsycheAI reads how you actually behave, and Ask PsycheAI answers your questions about it.

### Does PsycheAI use ChatGPT?

No. It uses Google Vertex AI (Gemini) on Google Cloud’s enterprise tier.

### Is PsycheAI free?

Your first Psyche Card and Psyche Report are free, with one Ask PsycheAI question. After that, five questions are US$5.
